Pascagoula port a real powerhouse

PASCAGOULA – The state port in Gulfport may make a lot of headlines, but it’s the Port of Pascagoula that is the real powerhouse. The $20 million-a-year operation is the busiest port in the state and consistently ranks in the nation’s top 20 ports. It moves more than 38 million tons of cargo a year, and supports 19,000 direct jobs and 37,500 indirect jobs at more than a dozen major companies and agencies.
