When Interstate 10 was built through Jackson County, it was a much needed four-lane thoroughfare. But the traffic has increased over the years, and improvements are in the works. The current plan is to widen the section between exits 50 and 57 from four lanes to six. The section also will be paved with a new type of asphalt that allows water to drain through it. Cameras and electronic signs will also be installed. The $50 million project is slated to begin in April and last for 20 months. (Source: WLOX-TV, 01/27/16)
