Despite economic downturns, Jackson County is continuing to lay a foundation for future growth. The state’s most industrial county has tended to the business of helping existing industry make upgrades and become more attractive to opportunity, while working to attract new prospects. The county’s Economic Development Foundation director, George Freeland, met with the Sun Herald on Friday along with the foundation’s chairman, Singing River Health Systems CEO Chris Anderson; the foundation’s founding father, businessman Jerry St. Pé; and Jackson County Board of Supervisors President Mike Mangum.
