ESCATAWPA, Miss. — A new scrubber stack at Plant Victor Daniel will soon be visible from Interstate 10. The Mississippi Power plant is working on a $660 million project that includes the tall stack known as a scrubber. It will reduce sulfur-dioxide emissions and keep chemicals out of the atmosphere. The scrubber is the latest evolution in clean power-plant technology in the continuation of burning coal for power, company spokesman Jeff Shepard said. The project began in April 2012 and will be finished by April 2016. (Source: Sun Herald, 06/05/13)
