PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Port of Pascagoula commissioners approved an agreement with the U.S. Department of Transportation regarding a $14 million grant to relocate the railroad interchange that regularly blocks traffic in downtown Pascagoula. Commissioners also approved a professional services agreement with Compton Engineering for work associated with the grant project. The project will reroute the interchange from downtown Pascagoula to east of Mississippi 63. The interchange is where one railroad gives rail cars to another railroad, and that’s the process that bogs up downtown traffic every afternoon. (Source: Mississippi Press, 08/22/14)
