PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Jackson County supervisors gave the Port of Pascagoula permission to borrow up to $5 million for upgrades to a Bayou Casotte wharf that will aid Chevron in importing mixed xylenes. Port director Mark McAndrews said the wharf upgrades will help the site better handle liquid bulk from barges. McAndrews told the board it’s an about $15 million project, where the shipper will pay for up to $11 million and the port will pay up to $5 million for modifications to the Terminal G berth. That facility can’t currently accommodate deep-draft vessels, he said. (Source: Mississippi Press, 06/02/14)
