PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Jackson County will move immediately into construction of a $9.2 million drinking water plant that’s part of a project to use water from the Pascagoula River to supply businesses and homes in northeast Jackson County. The county partnered with the Jackson County Utility Authority that will run the plant and distribute water it produces to homes and businesses in the Helena community and areas north. The total cost is $12 million, with the final $5 million coming to the county in increments as the plant is under construction. The funding is through the EPA. (Source: Sun Herald, 12/03/13)
