MOSS POINT, Miss. — Jackson County was hit hard by the recession, but residents can expect a positive future, economics consultant Loren Scott told about 150 participants at Thursday’s Jackson County Economic Development Foundation’s investors meeting. He said Jackson County will recover quicker than most areas thanks to new jobs that will be created through Signal International, VT Halter, the Port of Pascagoula, Chevron Corp, Ingalls Shipbuilding, Signet Maritime and others. Gulf LNG Energy might also have a chance at another $8 billion in investment if it gets government clearance to export liquefied natural gas, Scott said. Also at the annual meeting, the JCEDF recognized its outgoing chairman of the board, Singing River Health System’s Chris Anderson, and welcomed the new chairman, Charter Bank’s Greg Cronin. Board members also re-elected Jerry St. Pe as vice chairman and Royce Cumbest as secretary/treasurer. (Sources: Sun Herald, Mississippi Press, 11/14/13)
