Ingalls Shipbuilding has been awarded a multi-billion dollar contract from the U.S. Navy to build multiple ships for the military. With 39 states in the U.S. supplying Ingalls Shipbuilding with tools and materials, this contract will aid businesses around the country.

As Ingalls Shipbuilding constructs these ships here on the Coast, Pascagoula has a front-row seat to see the evolution of the four ships. And although Ingalls is located in South Mississippi, this new contract will have an impactful effect on our surrounding regions. “It impacts more than just Mississippi,” said Jackson County Economic Development Foundation Deputy Director Mary Martha Henson. “I mean if you think about the impact Ingalls Shipbuilding has alone? Has along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and into Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi? It really has a regional impact.” Henson says this contract will cause a multiplier effect, meaning it will give people jobs and have those same people spending money that will impact our local economy.
