HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Grants $100,000 in STEM Awards

PASCAGOULA, Miss., Jan. 24, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — HII’s (NYSE: HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division awarded $100,000 in grants to 26 STEM-related initiatives from schools and educational organizations located in Mississippi and Alabama. The STEM awards are currently distributed on an annual basis and are used to further the education of science, technology, engineering and math.

Major developments coming to Downtown Pascagoula

Throughout the years, we have seen major developments taking place in Pascagoula’s downtown area. The city now estimates 50% of downtown has been redeveloped in the past four years, but the growth doesn’t stop there. Posies & Puddles Children’s Boutique owner Abby Wills said there is a lot of new exciting projects coming to downtown. “Historically, I think downtown Pascagoula has had a lot of exciting things through the year and in the past,” said Willis. “I think that changed a little bit after Katrina, but we are starting to see that now coming back with all the new development.”

Ocean Springs residents met on Monday to discuss ways to prevent what could become a larger issue in their community, flooding. A local organization hosted Community RISE, meaning Resilience in Sea-Level Rise Education. Concerned citizens gathered in Ocean Springs to discuss the growing issue of flooding risks in their community. PLACE-SLR hosted Community Connection Dialogue. It’s designed to start conversations about the impact of rising sea levels.

Pascagoula mayor offers updates on growth, development at state of the city

Pascagoula mayor Dr. Jay Willis delivered a state of the city address during a luncheon with the Pascagoula Rotary Club at Grand Magnolia Ballroom.  Willis updated the public on growth and development in the Flagship City, as well as provided an update on the city government’s agenda over the next year.
