Ingalls Shipbuilding division holds graduation ceremony

Friends and family gathered together today to see their loved ones in graduation gowns receiving a diploma from the Ingalls Apprenticeship program for the years of 2020, 2021 and 2022. “The people that come through this school are people that’s going to be the leader of a company. So, it’s quite an achievement but it also means a lot to Ingalls and its future,” said Susan Jacobs. Vice President of Ingalls Human Resource Susan Jacobs said this program offers hands-on experience for their students while they are striving to achieve greatness.

Jobs available at Mississippi Gulf Coast after Fairbanks Morse invests millions in new Navy propeller facility

Earlier this year Fairbanks Morse partnered with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to create an apprenticeship program to build a skilled workforce. Apprenticeships are offered in the foundry and for CNC machinists, said Mary Martha Henson, deputy director of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation. The program is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, said Rucker who is also the program’s executive officer for attack submarines.

United Way kicks off campaign to support George County nonprofits

The United Way of Jackson and George Counties held one of its annual campaign kickoffs Thursday, seeking to raise $2 million towards its mission by year’s end. It was the first time in close to two decades the organization has hosted a campaign kick-off in George County as it continues to expand services and relationships with other agencies in the area. United Way’s mission centers on improving education, financial stability and health in the community. One agency they partner with is Singing River Educational Association (SREA), with Head Start locations in Basin and Benndale.

Ingalls holds successful acceptance trials for latest guided missile destroyer

Ingalls Shipbuilding has successfully completed acceptance trials for its latest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee (DDG 123). “Completing a successful sea trial is always a significant accomplishment for our combined Ingalls and Navy team, and DDG 123 performed well,” said Ingalls president Kari Wilkinson. “We are committed to this partnership and look forward to our next opportunity to demonstrate it during our next trial events for our first Flight III destroyer.”

HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Celebrates Apprentice Program Graduates

PASCAGOULA, Miss., Oct. 14, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — HII’s (NYSE: HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division recognized its latest apprentice program graduates at a ceremony this month. Ingalls celebrated 136 apprentice graduates in the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022, who have invested time in the classroom and shipyard to prepare them for a shipbuilding career. It was the first in-person graduation ceremony in two years. “I am honored to celebrate this elite group of graduates who have committed their unique talents and abilities to advancing national security,” Ingalls Shipbuilding President Kari Wilkinson said. “Together we will continue to build on Ingalls’ legacy of service to our country by delivering ships to our customers.”

HII-Built Missile Destroyer Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee Completes Acceptance Trials

The Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey conducted a series of inspections and evaluations on the ship’s operations, operations and onboard systems, including navigation, combat systems and communications. The service branch is expected to receive the ship later in 2022 from Pascagoula, Mississippi. It will be the last Ingalls Shipbuilding-built Flight IIA destroyer that will be dispatched to the Navy as the agency moves to Flight III destroyer ships.

Fairbanks Morse holds grand opening for new Pascagoula facility

Governor Tate Reeves visiting South Mississippi to participate in the grand opening of the new Fairbanks Morse facility in Pascagoula. “I want to thank the entire Fairbanks Morse team for your commitment to Mississippi,” said Reeves. “Since I became governor, we have seen almost $5 billion in new capital investment, and we’ll see even more in the immediate future.” The new 26,000-square-foot space will provide increased support to U.S. Navy programs. It’s located in Jackson County Supervisor Ennit Morris’ district. His connection started years ago when he was employed by the company. He later retired there.

Fairbanks Morse adds new facility, capabilities to Pascagoula site

Fairbanks Morse this week celebrated a major investment in its Pascagoula site that will provide increased capabilities and capacity to support U.S. Navy programs. A new 26,000-square-foot facility, with foundry and machining equipment provided by a U.S. Department of Defense grant, will increase the company’s ability to manufacture propellers and propulsor components for naval platforms.

More jobs for Gulf Coast as Fairbanks Morse invests millions

A standing ovation marked the grand opening of a multi-million dollar facility on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast to build propellers for the U.S. Navy.  The Fairbanks Morse facility, known as the Center of Excellence 2 in Pascagoula, has the latest high-tech equipment to build nuclear submarine propellers and other equipment for the military. Eighty members of the company’s “growing workforce” paraded during Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, The Sun Herald reported.
