Jackson County’s population grew 2.6 percent between 2010 and 2018, according to population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The counties along the coast were among the few areas of Mississippi that experienced growth. Harrison County grew 10.4 percent and Hancock County grew 7.5 percent. In addition to the coast, counties outside Jackson and Memphis also saw growth, as did a small roup of counties in the northeast. The state overall grew 0.6 percent, but the majority of counties lost population in the eight-year period. (Source: Sun Herald, 05/06/19)
