Boost in workers will have impact

PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Scheduled maintenance at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery will bring thousands of contract workers to Jackson County, boosting the local economy. Maintenance is an ongoing process, said Alan Sudduth, manager of policy, government and public affairs at the refinery. These maintenance periods are called turnarounds and sometimes the scheduled maintenance for several processing units overlap, which results in a concentration of planned maintenance work. That’s the case this year. There could be an additional 500 to 3,000 additional workers at the plant at any given time, in addition to the plant workforce of 1,580. (Source: Sun Herald, 01/30/18)
