2,500 workers needed in 18 months

PASCAGOULA, Miss. – Ingalls Shipbuilding plans to hire more than 2,500 workers within the next 18 months. Ingalls Shipbuilding said hourly pay for the available positions ranges from $14 for more entry-level jobs to $24.70 for most first-class journeymen positions with electrical journeyman rates a bit higher. The shipbuilding is looking for welders, shipfitters, pipefitters and more. The shipyard’s current workload includes three classes of U.S. Navy ships as well as the National Security Cutters for the U.S. Coast Guard. (Source: al.com, 07/02/15)
