PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Ingalls Shipbuilding delivered the National Security Cutter James (WMSL 754) to the U.S. Coast Guard Friday. The ship will sail in mid-July to Boston for an Aug. 8 commissioning. It’s the fifth Legend-class ship built for the Coast Guard by Ingalls. The NSC class is 418 feet long and has a top speed of 28 knots and a range of 12,000 miles. The ship has a crew of 120. The cutter is named to honor Capt. Joshua James of the U.S. Life-Saving Service, who is credited with saving over 600 lives and is considered one of the most celebrated lifesavers in the world.
