County has successful 2019

PASCAGOULA, Miss. - Last year was highly successful for Jackson County, with over 2,000 industrial jobs created and new capital investments in excess of $220 million. That was a key message during the Jackson County State of the Economy Address during a breakfast meeting. "2019 was one of the best economic development years on record," said George Freeland, executive director of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation. Much of that growth resulted from projects that have been in the works for years, including VT Halter Marine’s $745 million contract with the U.S. Coast Guard to build a Polar Security Cutter, the redevelopment of Ingall Shipbuilding's east bank, and the Enviva wood pellet center at the Port of Pascagoula.
