Port Economic Engine Highlighted

JACKSON, Miss. — The Port of Pascagoula creates 36,387 direct and indirect jobs, nearly half outside Jackson County. That's what Port Director Mark McAndrews told state legislators Wednesday night at the 14th annual Port of Pascagoula Night at the Old Capitol Inn. The event drew together Jackson County industries, local elected officials and state legislators to discuss the port's impact on the state. "Those jobs represent $1.4 billion in personal income and $82.8 million in tax revenue to the state," McAndrews said. (Source: Mississippi Press, 02/21/13)
