Gautier prepares for grand opening of The Sound Amphitheater

As of Thursday, just eight days remain until the grand opening of the Sound Amphitheater. KC & The Sunshine Band are scheduled to headline the opening on April 12. This venue can hold up to 7,000 people in seated chairs and 11,000 thousand people standing. Dolphin Drive has transformed into the music destination for South Mississippians. “It’s been a long, rough ways to get to this point but we have accomplishment and I’m just ecstatic about it,” explained Mayor Casey Vaughan.

$3M in paving projects underway in Jackson County

Crews are repaving streets in several cities in Jackson County. The $3 million plan includes improving 45 roads in Pascagoula, with 40 streets already repaved. Officials said some roads like Magnolia Street, Pascagoula Street, and Washington Avenue needed extra attention. Paving was delayed for the five remaining roads in Pascagoula due to rainy weather.

Singing River Health System to hold ribbon cutting for robotic-assisted surgical platform/b>

Singing River Health System will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the hospital group being the first on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to to introduce the Intuitive Ion robot for procedures to look directly at the airways in the lungs. The Ion endoluminal system is a robotic-assisted platform designed for minimally invasive biopsy procedures within the lung which assists in making minimally invasive pulmonary care possible. To celebrate Singing River’s acquiring of the platform, the public is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting celebration at Ocean Springs Hospital on Monday, May 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. Dr. Babar, a renowned pulmonologist with the hospital group, will discuss the biopsy and treatment options for lung nodules using the Ion robot. Attendees will also have the opportunity to witness a live robot demonstration.
